Every child deserves to experience the joy, comfort and excitement of the holiday season. Through DePelchin Holiday Project, our community comes together to provide gifts and essential items to children, youth and families receiving our services across Texas.

This year, we anticipate fulfilling over 2,000 wish lists of children, youth and young adults, ensuring they feel supported and celebrated during the holidays.

Whether you’re looking to sponsor a child’s wish list, organize a donation drive, volunteer your time or make a donation, there are many ways you can make an impact on a child’s holiday season.

What is DePelchin’s Holiday Project?

DePelchin’s Holiday Project is an annual community initiative that provides holiday gifts and necessities to children and families receiving DePelchin services. The program helps fulfill both practical needs and holiday wishes, creating moments of joy while easing financial burdens for the families we serve in Greater Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and Lubbock.

Each year, individuals, families, schools, churches and businesses throughout the Houston area rally together to support the families participating in DePelchin’s programs – from foster care and adoption to counseling and parenting support programs.

What Does it Mean to “Sponsor a Child’s Holiday Wish List”?

One of the most impactful ways to participate in our Holiday Project is to sponsor a child’s wish list. When you sponsor a child, you commit to fulfilling a personalized list that includes:

  • Three essential items, such as clothing, shoes, bedding or other necessities
  • One “want” item that reflects the child’s interests and holiday wish

Sponsors are asked to provide approximately three to four items with a total value of about $150 per child. Each wish list is tailored to a specific child, allowing you to meet real needs while helping create a memorable and magical holiday experience that may be otherwise out of reach.

Other Ways to Get Involved
  1. Volunteer Your Time. Volunteers play a critical role in helping to sort, organize and distribute wish lists to over 2,000 children during the holiday season. Our volunteers help make this large-scale effort possible and ensure gifts reach families in time for the holidays. You can sign up for volunteer shifts here.
  1. Host a Donation Drive. Rally your coworkers, congregation, family members or friends and collect new, unwrapped toys and gifts for children served by DePelchin. Toy drives are a great way to engage your community while making a collective impact. You can learn more about hosting a drive here.
  1. Shop Our Amazon Wish List. Looking for a simple way to give? Purchase much-needed items directly from DePelchin’s Holiday Project Amazon List. This option makes it easy to support children and families from anywhere while ensuring donations align with current needs. You can browse our Amazon list here.
  1. Make a Financial Contribution. Monetary donations help ensure that every child receives gifts, even when their wish list is not sponsored. Contributions are used to fulfill remaining holiday wish lists and, if all holiday needs are met, support children and families served by DePelchin throughout the year.
Important Donation Information

To ensure families receive their gifts in time, please drop off or deliver wish lists and donation items to us by December 9. Any donation received past the deadline will be used to support our families year round.
