Relief Care Provider

Respite Care Providers (RCP) are licensed foster parents who temporarily care for foster children to give other licensed foster parents a break.
This page is dedicated to provide all the information you need to become a RCP for a current DePelchin foster family and current RCPs.

Training Information for Respite Care Providers

Relief Care Providers will be enrolled in the DFPS portal to complete the required DFPS training by a DePelchin RCP team member. Once enrolled, a team member will send you the information and instructions to log in. For more details, please contact the Relief Care Provider team at reliefcare@depelchin.org.

As of October 2024, in-person CPR training will be required. With the new requirements, each branch and their parents will receive an email separately.

There is no fee for Relief Care Providers. When scheduling your training, don’t forget to mention the names of participant(s), our agency name, your location (Austin, Houston, Lubbock, or San Antonio), and the name of the foster parent you are an RCP for.

Visit the CPR page for information for each branch and their options to complete this training. https://www.depelchin.org/cpr-training/

Things to keep in mind when choosing a company to complete your training:
• CPR & 1st Aid training is due every two years.
• Per Minimum Standards, we can accept instructor-led blended/hybrid learning.
• Training curriculum must be Pediatric CPR and must include Pediatric First Aid training.
